Our Core Values Are
Honesty | Accountability | Integrity | Respect

OUR MISSION

Uzima Women Relief Group International provides care and support to families affected by the effects of war and disease in Canada and internationally to contribute to the global efforts to relieve poverty and improve women’s health and education.

OUR VISION

We envision a world where women understand their rights and have access to quality health, education, and economic stability.

OBJECTIVES

  • Empower Black (racialized) community members in the Toronto area by offering employment-focused workshops and training sessions. Activities include resume crafting, job interview strategies, job skills enhancement, mentorship initiatives, and facilitation of job placements.
  • Alleviate poverty and promote education within rural communities by providing training in agricultural and farming techniques, with a special focus on kitchen garden cultivation. Targeting impoverished women, these programs aim to equip participants with practical skills for sustainable livelihoods.

Uzima Women Relief Group International is a non-profit organization incorporated in 2012. Uzima is a Kiswahili word meaning wellness.

The organization works to alleviate poverty and augment wellness among at-risk populations facing health challenges brought about by lack of access to better economic opportunities.

Also, Uzima focuses on medical care and medicines, good nutrition and education for both women and men with a focus on women empowerment.

As a not-for-profit organization, we seek diverse voices in working to improve uzima. Although we are open to all racial groups, we especially encourage black, and people of color, and others currently less represented in our governance groups to consider joining us in these important leadership roles.
