International Programs
Uzima is dedicated to uplifting marginalized communities, especially Black individuals facing systemic barriers anywhere in the world. Since 2022 we have focused on empowering grassroots women's groups in Africa, beginning with the launch of our Kenyan chapter.
Food security, one household at a time
On 11 June 2022 Uzima ran a two-day workshop in Western Kenya to empower every participant to grow their own food within the smallest confines of space. Kitchen gardening was the strategy, with organic farming maximising the effectiveness of the crop.
Multiple guest speakers, including Ben Kiplagat, led the event with lectures and demonstrations on maximising produce using the equipment. Religious leaders, healthcare providers and other professionals joined our Executive Director, Jacobet Wambayi, PhD, in making the event a success.
Under her leadership our pan-African focus aims to keep inspiring participants and lay the groundwork for future initiatives across the continent.
