Uzima is currently supporting grassroots women groups.

On June 11, 2022, Uzima ran a 2 day workshop in Western Kenya. The ongoing initiative was to empower every participant to grow their own food within minimal confines of space. Kitchen gardening was the strategy behind this where organic farming maximized the effectiveness of yielding crop. As a result, the gardener would harvest highly nutritious food for consumption, to farm without replacing seeds for multiple seasons, and to profit from selling if commercial. Multiple guest speakers such as Ben Kiplagat led the event with lectures and demonstration on how to maximize produce using the equipment. Also, religious leaders, healthcare providers, and other professionals joined our Director Jacobet Wambayi PhD in making the event a success.

Uzima Women Relief Group International is launching a Kenyan chapter. There is an opportunity to participate in membership to grow the organization in that region.

Empowering Grassroots Women Groups in Kenya and Across Africa

Uzima Women Relief Group International is dedicated to uplifting marginalized communities, especially Black individuals facing systemic and other barriers anywhere in the world. We are thrilled to announce that Uzima is now actively focused on empowering grassroots women groups in Africa, starting with the launch of our Kenyan chapter in 2022.

Previous Initiatives

Since 2022, Uzima has hosted workshops in Western Kenya, addressing food security through sustainable kitchen gardening. This initiative has equipped participants with the skills to grow nutritious organic food sustainably, using minimal space and organic farming methods. Key outcomes include:

Nutritious Food

Participants have learned to grow and consume highly nutritious produce.

Sustainable Farming

Techniques taught enable continuous farming without the need for seasonal seed replacement.

Economic Opportunity

Participants have been coached on how to market and sell surplus produce, creating additional income streams.

The workshops have featured notable speakers drawn from local and international networks and received contributions from religious leaders, healthcare providers, and professionals. Under the leadership of our Executive Director, Jacobet Wambayi, PhD, the goals of our pan-Africa focus is to continually inspire participants and lay the groundwork for future initiatives across the continent.
