At Uzima Women Relief Group International, we are committed to supporting seniors in living healthier, safer, more connected and independent lives.
Through weekly workshops, wellness activities, digital learning, social programs and practical community supports, seniors have opportunities to learn new skills, stay active, build friendships, access helpful information and remain connected to their communities.

Our current seniors projects
Digital Empowerment of Black Seniors for Healthy Ageing
Supports digital literacy, safety and overall wellbeing among seniors across the GTA through hands-on technology training, cyber-safety education, online communication support, wellness activities and intergenerational learning.
Building Capacity for Equitable Service Delivery to Black Seniors
Strengthens culturally responsive and inclusive support for Black seniors and their families through intergenerational activities, staff development and community engagement around digital literacy, wellness, gardening, cooking, sewing and social connection.
Seniors Grocery Program
Supports seniors experiencing food insecurity and financial hardship by improving access to groceries and essential food items, addressing barriers like limited income, mobility, transportation and social isolation.
Seniors Tablet Borrowing Program
Provides tablets for temporary use, supporting digital inclusion and enabling seniors to stay connected, access online services, and build confidence using technology.
Seniors Equipment Support Program
Helps seniors access essential mobility, safety and daily living equipment — canes, walkers, bathroom safety equipment and other practical support based on individual needs.
Past seniors projects
Expanding Effective Organizational Capacity to Support Black Seniors to Improve Their Lives
Strengthened culturally appropriate supports for Black seniors through community partnerships, educational programming and organizational capacity building. Delivered in partnership with the Kenya Canadian Association and Bridge to Oasis Foundation.
Bridging the Gap: Mobility Aid & Grocery Support for Black Seniors
Supported the health, independence and wellbeing of Black seniors by increasing access to essential mobility aids and grocery support — addressing barriers related to financial hardship, mobility, food security and social isolation.
Red Cross Seniors Support Project
Supported Continental African seniors experiencing increased isolation during COVID-19 — grocery and essential-item delivery, connections to healthcare and medications, social inclusion activities, and referrals. Also included programming for Black men of different age groups.
Enhancing Seniors' Wellness and Safety
Provided seniors with information related to elder abuse and financial safety while supporting the development of technology skills needed to navigate digital and financial systems more confidently.
