Community Support, Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism Initiatives
"Building the capacity of Uzima to serve diverse racialized communities in Toronto and the GTA" — establishing an effective organizational structure with functioning key systems in place, and equipping the board and staff with knowledge in strategic planning, financial management and human resources.
Board and staff received training in virtual communication, financial health and sustainability, and equity and diversity, so Uzima can better serve racialized and other marginalized groups. Needs-assessment surveys and town hall meetings promoted stronger partnerships, collaboration and networking among stakeholders.
Community Services Recovery Fund
"Building organizational capacity in advanced technology for effective program delivery" — funded by United Way Greater Toronto to enhance the information technology skills of Uzima staff and volunteers and provide updated software and hardware.
The Community Services Recovery Fund is a collaboration between United Way Centraide Canada, the Canadian Red Cross and Community Foundations of Canada, providing funding to community service organizations as they adapt to the long-term impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
